    MidWestOne Testimonial
Sometimes less is more…and that’s what comes to mind when listening to Herb Musser, MidWestOne Bank’s V.P. & SEC Reporting Officer describe WebFilings –“it just makes sense.” With that simple and common sense over view, Musser breaks down the benefits of using WebFilings.

Saving time and gaining efficiencies in the entire filing process is what first comes to mind when Musser talks about switching to WebFilings to streamline the SEC reporting process he oversees. MidWestOne now saves almost a week each quarter, and even better, their reports are more accurate.

To prove the cost savings WebFilings has contributed, Musser refers to a cost benefit analysis he used to evaluate his company’s reporting efficiency. And when factoring in XBRL’s time consuming requirements, Musser enthusiastically reports the subscription to WebFilings easily pays for itself.

WebFilings Emerges as the Market Leader

In early December 2011, the Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF) released “SEC Reporting and the Impact of XBRL: 2011 Survey.” With 300 companies participating in the survey, a clear trend emerged. Companies are bringing the XBRL tagging function in-house, increasingly with built-in solutions, as they search for control and efficiency in managing SEC reporting compliance. Built-in solutions, in which the creation of the EDGAR document and XBRL instant report are fully integrated, are, the fastest growing approach used by large accelerated, accelerated and non-accelerated filers.

Everyone here at WebFilings is very excited for 2012... not only because we expect to continue our tremendous growth but also because of all the improvements we will be making to our industry-leading WebFilings SEC Reporting solution.

We are starting 2012 with a bang by rolling out our most advanced release ever. Not only does this release improve application performance, it also provides dozens of new features our customers have been asking for.

Some of these new features include:

    • The ability to link from text to text, allowing users to apply XBRL tags directly to text within a document and allowing portions of a document to be re-used in multiple places within the same or multiple documents so that a change to one updates them all.
    • The copying and pasting of XBRL tags. This new feature makes quick work of XBRL tagging and, when combined with our XBRL taxonomy importer, will make switching to WebFilings quicker and easier than ever.

In the December 2011 issue of Financial Executives Magazine, FEI asks just that, what does the next 80 years of global finance look like? The feature article of the issue, FEI@80: The Next 80 Years, presents comments from many leading financial executives and business leaders to weigh-in on how global finance will evolve. Two members of our WebFilings team joined their peers, commenting on the issue.

Former FASB chairman and member of the WebFilings Advisory Board, Robert Herz believes, “Will there still be the basic financial statements or will it be replaced by just electronic data that you can plug into your model and create your own build-to-suit financial statements? I believe there still will be a core set of financial statements and there will be the ability to plug in data to your models. Some of these mentioned here will occur well before 80 years.“

One of my favorite holiday traditions is to watch “A Christmas Story,” a classic holiday movie from 1983 featuring nine-year-old “Ralphie” Parker who desperately wants a Red Ryder BB Gun. While many holiday movies tend to take the traditional feel-good approach, I have always appreciated the comical storyline of “A Christmas Story.”

While our recently released company video, which we’ve dubbed “The WebFilings Story,” does not feature a fishnet stocking lamp or a Red Ryder BB Gun, it shares our story about how our company got its start and explains our company’s core values.

A few years ago, WebFilings disrupted the current SEC reporting process, a process that hadn’t changed much in the last 25 years, with our fully-integrated, cloud-based SEC reporting solution. WebFilings’ culture of innovation, from product development to customer success, has allowed our company to address all aspects of the process’ problems with their end-to-end reporting solution.

WebFilings says No More Pencils Down.Filing accurately and on time with the SEC is critical to your company...and to your career. Whether you’re a CFO, controller or external financial reporting manager, both your personal and your company’s reputations depend upon accurate and up-to-date financial statements you file with the SEC.

Those who work with the financials on a daily basis know that preparing financial statements to file with the SEC is stressful enough without having to juggle 11th hour changes to your documents.

WebFilings says No More Pencils Down. This past quarter WebFilings has been at several conferences and events, speaking to hundreds of companies about SEC reporting. And we’re hearing loud and clear that the “pencils down” period financial reporting service providers are requiring is a big issue and concern many are facing.

Typically companies are asked to be pencils down 3-5 business days, but we’ve heard from companies who were asked to comply with a 14-day pencils down period (no surprise they are a WebFilings customer now).
